The night in the Garden had been very difficult for Jesus. Judas had betrayed him, his other disciples ran away in fear, and he was led away in chains to be questioned by religious leaders all night.

Some people accused Him of things He had never done. They laughed at Him and treated Him unfairly. Even so, Jesus remained calm. He knew that He was choosing to suffer so that people could be forgiven of their sins.

The next morning, Jesus was taken to the governor called Pilate. He knew that Jesus was innocent and tried to release him, but the crowd became angry and shouted for Jesus to be crucified.

Roman soldiers started to mock Jesus, then put a crown of thorns on His head. He was beaten very severely then led away to a hill called Calvary.

Jesus was going through a lot of pain, but he knew that he had to suffer and die so that people didn’t have to die in their sins if they became his disciples. The wages for sin is death.

The soldiers led Jesus to a hill called Calvary. He was nailed to a cross and the pain was terrible. But even while He was suffering, Jesus thought about others. Looking at the people who had hurt Him, He prayed, "Father, forgive them, because they do not know what they are doing."

Hour after hour, Jesus remained on the cross. Though He was suffering greatly, He knew His sacrifice would make it possible for people to receive God's forgiveness. This gave meaning to everything He endured.

Soon after darkness filled the whole place for 3 long hours then Jesus died. The devil thought he had finally destroyed God’s plan of salvation, but he had no idea that this was part of God's plan all along.

Jesus knew He was sacrificing His life to save the world.

Jesus obeyed God even when it was painful and difficult.

Jesus loved people, even when they were unkind to Him.
