What is baptism?

8

Baptism is when a Christian is gently put under the water and lifted up again.

9

Going under the water shows the old life of sin is washed away.

10

Coming up out of the water shows a brand-new life has begun with Jesus.

11

It is a sign that someone wants to obey God and follow Him.

Jesus Comes to the River...

14

One day, someone very special walked toward John.

15

It was Jesus.

16

Jesus had never sinned. He did not need to say sorry for anything. But He stepped into the water and asked John to baptise Him.

19

He said, “I should be baptised by You! Why are You coming to me?”

At that moment, something amazing happened!

32

A bright light appeared, and the Spirit of God came down like a dove and rested on Jesus.

“This is My Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.”

38

Jesus did not need to repent—but He was baptised to obey God and to show us what to do.

39

Every Christian should be baptised.

40

Water baptism does not save us—but it shows that:

41

We have repented (said sorry for our sins),

42

We believe in Jesus,

43

We are starting a new life with Him.

44

Going under the water shows the old life is gone.

45

Coming up shows a brand-new life has begun!

46

John obeyed God.

47

Jesus obeyed God.

48

And when we choose to follow Jesus, we obey God too.

49

🌊✨ When we are baptised, we are saying to the world:

50

“I belong to Jesus.”
