After Jesus and His disciples finished the Passover meal, they sang a hymn together then walked to a quiet place called the Garden of Gethsemane.

The disciples had visited this garden many times with Jesus. It was one of His favorite places to pray.

But one disciple was missing.

Judas had left the supper earlier that evening.

Judas had been thinking about the money some religious leaders had offered him if he would help them arrest Jesus.

So instead of staying with Jesus, Judas went straight to the religious leaders.

"I know where Jesus will be," Judas told them.

The leaders were pleased. They gathered soldiers and guards and followed Judas into the night.

Meanwhile, Jesus was praying in the garden.

"Stay here and pray," Jesus told His disciples. But soon the all fell asleep.

Jesus knew what was about to happen. He was about to take on the sins of the whole world and be crucified. He was willing to suffer all this pain so that the would could be saved.

Suddenly, bright lights appeared in the darkness.

Judas had let a crowd of soldiers and religious leaders straight to them.

The soldiers took hold of Jesus but Peter ran forward with a sword ready to fight.

"Put your sword away," Jesus said. "This is God's plan."

The disciples were so scared that they all ran away.

As the soldiers led Jesus away, it looked like satan had won.

But God was still in control.

Judas chose money over faithfulness to Jesus. Jesus, however, chose to obey God even when it was difficult. God wants us to be loyal to Him and trust Him in every situation.

He knew the places Jesus and the disciples liked to visit. But instead of staying with Jesus, Judas went straight to the religious leaders. "I know where Jesus will be," Judas told them. Suddenly, bright lights appeared in the darkness. Torches flickered among the trees. The disciples looked up in surprise. "Who's there?" shouted Peter. “What do you want?” asked another. To their surprise, Judas had let a crowd of soldiers and religious leaders straight to them. The disciples couldn’t believe it!. Judas had spent 3 years with them, so he knew exactly where they would be. Jesus stepped forward calmly. "Who are you looking for?" He asked. "Jesus of Nazareth," they replied.
